Frequently Asked Questions

Does the foundation favor certain fields of interest ( i.e. eduction, housing, human services, environment?)

No.

Does it make grants for projects outside Lowell?

Almost never.

Are non-Lowell organizations encouraged to apply for Lowell-based projects?

Yes.

Is there a preferred grant size?

There is no hard and fast rule regarding size of request or grant, but most grants fall within the range of $25,000-50,000.

Smaller requests tend to be denied, but may be considered under special circumstances.

Does the Foundation make multiple-year grants?

Yes, particularly when key support is provided for a new organization or major new initiative.

Do you support project, capital and operating costs?

We support project and capital costs, but, with the exception of startup grants, are reluctant to support general operations.
