INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS Background Eleanor and Gipp Ludcke established the Ludcke Foundation in 1991 to fulfill their vision that every individual be given the opportunity to grow up in a safe and nurturing surrounding, have access to adequate health care and an opportunity to pursue an education. Mission To identify and support charitable endeavors which provide needed resources and services to children and families, with an emphasis on emotional and physical health, education and social development. The Foundation devotes its grants to the fields of education, medicine, and human services. The trustees have a special interest in programs that focus across two or three of the foundation's areas of interest and in partnering with other donors with similar objectives to enable more ambitious projects. Eligibility Applicants must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and defined as “not a private foundation” under section 509(a) of the Code. Geographic Focus Grants are limited to organizations located in or serving New England and national organizations with significant operations in New England. Grant Size Grant size will range, depending on the size and stage of the organization and project. Normally, grants will be in the $25,000-$100,000 range. Application Procedures and Deadlines The Foundation will normally make grants twice a year, in May and November. Only organizations invited by the trustees may apply. The trustees will begin the application process by requesting a concept paper. Applicants whose concept papers have been approved by the trustees will be invited to submit a full proposal in accordance with the foundation’s proposal application format described below. Interviews or site visits will be scheduled at the trustees’ discretion. Concept papers, if requested by the trustees, should include the following:

Concept papers must be received by 5:00 p.m. on December 15 for consideration prior to the March 1 proposal deadline or June 15 for consideration prior to the September 1 proposal deadline. In the event that a deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, concept papers will be due on the first business day following the deadline date. Full proposals, if requested by the trustees, should include the following:

In the event that a deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, proposals will be due on the first business day following the deadline date. NOTE: Organizations that have received grants from the Ludcke Foundation may reapply for funding for the same program/purpose the following year. Those whose grants were allocated at the May trustees' meeting should submit applications by the March 1 deadline for consideration at the next May meeting, while those funded in November should submit applications by the following September 1. To apply for continued funding for the same project, grantees must submit a grant report and an updated proposal. While its use is not required, applicants are encouraged to follow the Associated Grant Makers' Common Report Form.
